The week before Christmas brought in the first real cold snap of the winter and most of the country had some snow. I worried a little about getting to Vicky and Ben’s Pangdean Farm wedding in Pyecombe near Brighton.
Waking up in Tunbridge Wells to six inches of snow on Friday morning made up my mind not to attempt the trip down to Ditchling in West Sussex on the day (Saturday), so I set off at midday to make sure I got there as my local roads would surely freeze up quite badly overnight. The trip should only have taken an hour or so, but on the snowy roads it took three.
Vikki and Ben had just finished their rehearsal in the church when I arrived and as the blokes were all staying at the White Horse across the road, this made everything simple.
On the morning of the wedding, the skies were blue and the church looked beautiful. After the obligatory fry-up, the blokes set about clearing the pathway up the church entrance.
