Leanne and Steven’s Spa Hotel wedding in Tunbridge Wells looked like it was going to fall foul of the wet weather, but no, it just about held off. Weather, our national obsession – along with most couples (I know because they tell me), I spend too much time looking at the BBC five day weather forecast. I know I can’t do anything about it but I just can’t help myself.
“What about if it rains” couples ask when we meet up. It’s really the only thing that you can’t plan for on your wedding day. Most couples choose some time between April and October because there’s a fairly good chance that you’ll be able to get outside and there are more hours of daylight. But British Summers are notoriously dodgy; in the last few years, we’ve had generally better weather in April and May and then later on into Autumn.
You’ve got to be pretty unlucky for it to rain non-stop on your wedding. Yes unlucky, not “Ironic” as in the Alanis Morissette song. There’s usually a break from the rain at sometime during the day and umbrellas can always be used. If it rains on your wedding day, then that’s what happened and it needs to be reflected in a few of the pictures.
Leanne and Steven’s wedding was relatively rain-free; the sun came out but the wind was enough to keep most people inside during the drinks. At least Leanne didn’t have a veil. Windy veil pics are great but most brides are keen to take them out once the ceremony is over.
Anyway, they were a lovely couple to photograph. Steven had a new, old MG which he was keen to get in a few pics and Leanne was a gorgeous bride. As usual, there were lots of guests with cameras and as you can see, I had plenty of back up should the ‘signing the register’ pic not work out.
