Before we get too deep into 2013, I thought I’d post some of my favourite wedding photographs of 2012.
For me, these are the pictures that sum up weddings. Most have been chosen because they’re ‘moments’ and what I like to shoot as a documentary wedding photographer. The format for most of the weddings I shoot is pretty much the same each time. Bridal preparations are followed by a ceremony, some drinks, a few people standing in a line, some good and bad speeches, finishing with a spin around a dance floor. This tends to be the tried and tested formula for the perfect wedding. What is different though, is that each time, there’s a new bride and groom, often a new venue and a new set of guests ready to have a good time. It’s no surprise that most of my favourite photographs show emotion – mostly laughing, sometimes a few tears and for me, that’s what’s absolutely fantastic about photographing weddings.
Oh and just to let you know (if you’re wondering where all the traditional wedding pics are), during the course of the year and at 95%* of the weddings I attend, there will be a time when I will happily photograph you with various members of your family and friends while standing in a line. Ditto pics of bouquets, cakes, dresses hanging and table decorations. It all gets photographed but artistically-shot shoes don’t really do it for me when it comes to picking favourites and that’s why they don’t feature here. Thought I’d better make that clear.
*the 5% are the ultra cool couples that really don’t want anything set up at all and give you total freedom. I like couples like this.
If you’re looking for a photographer for your wedding this year or indeed further ahead at 2014, please feel free to get in touch via the website http://www.craigprentis.co.uk/contact/
Please don’t be shy! If you have any thoughts on the pics I’ve chosen for my favourite wedding photographs of 2012, please leave a comment below and feel free to share this blog post around. Like all the posts I write, they’re there to be seen. If you’re a bride or groom that’s been photographed this year, what’s your favourite? (hmm, I feel a new blog category coming on).
Happy 2013 to you all.
