Look at what some people get up to on a Saturday morning.
Reading Wellfit Outdoor Fitness’s Facebook Page entry from last night, it stated that it was going to be the “toughest, wettest, and muddiest class yet” and the fact that the wind howled and the rain poured down overnight, it got me thinking – it might make for some good pictures.
Lee Simmons (the lead instructor and founder of Wellfit) had asked me about taking some pictures in past, so I thought I’d get out there, fully waterproofed up with my cameras wearing carrier bags.
After an initial warm up on the green in front of St Peter’s Church in Southborough, they headed into woods. The good thing about working out in the open is that there are lots of natural obstacles there to use as an outdoor gym. Logs featured quite a lot; they can be jumped over, walked along, lifted up etc. The session involved running from one place to another where new exercises were performed. The place I know off as the bomb crater going over towards Bidborough was used for wheelbarrows up it’s steep incline which looked like hard work.
I did manage to keep up, but running with cameras slapping around at the side of you is a little awkward. On the last leg, they carried each other back to the start point and ended with for a group photo. I had mentioned to Lee that a bit of mud would be good for the pics and by the end, they certainly looked the part.
