It’s that time of year when I have a look back on what I’ve done and choose some of my favourite wedding images of 2014. I do enjoy this process. Most of the images get tagged and rated as I go through the editing stage. This makes it a little easier but I still have to edit these down and pick a set of photos that I like and that I think help promote the style of my photographic coverage on a wedding day.
I tended to pick those that had strong visual appeal and elements of storytelling. It may sound obvious, but when I photograph a wedding, I want to be able to show the viewer what went on in the day. Having a complete visual record helps trigger memories of the wedding day and fill in parts that weren’t witnessed first hand. In years to come, the couple will be able to relive it through the images produced.
I much prefer this documentary style approach and really enjoy hearing from couples that want their weddings photographed this way. By the way, I did photograph some group shots at nearly all the weddings I went to last year and I took some nice straight-to-camera bridal portraits that look lovely on the mantlepiece, but I just haven’t chosen to show any of these here.
