Buckhurst Park is a lovely venue situated in the village of Withyham in East Sussex, midway between Tunbridge Wells and East Grinstead. It’s the ancestral home of the Earl De La Warr and his family.
Ceremonies can be held in one of the two light and airy rooms which are licensed for civil weddings – the nineteenth century Hall lined with ancient books or the lovely primrose drawing room. Many people use the Hall to meet and greet guests and hold the ceremony in the drawing room. Alternatively for those wishing to get married in church, there’s St Michael and All Angels Church in Withyham.
What I love about the venue is that the outside space is just fantastic for pictures. The gardens were originally designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens and planted with help from Gertrude Jekyll. The views are amazing from the top garden where a marquee can be erected, looking out across the park and lake up to Ashdown Forest.
