I was really pleased when this lovely National Trust venue announced that it was going to be taking bookings for weddings and civil partnerships. About time too, I thought.
So, you can imagine how pleased I was to book my first couple for their Scotney Castle wedding. On the day, the ceremony was held just outside the picturesque medieval Old Castle, under the wonderful white wisteria archway. The gardens of Scotney Castle are fantastic for Autumn colour (this wedding was at the end of August) and are particularly famous for their dazzling Springtime display of Rhododendrons and Azaleas.
It's great to work at a venue that has such lovely, photogenic backdrops. Every angle looks good and on the day, with the wedding being outside, it meant that I could move around discreetly and cover the ceremony from many different angles. Once it was over, there was plenty of scope to get some nice couple shots around the castle and moat before heading back up to the Manor House for the drinks reception. Again, this is a picturesque location with far reaching views of the estate.
