FAQs

This should cover most of the wedding photography faqs I get asked all the time – if not, please get in touch

What is your style of wedding photography?
I promote my style as documentary wedding photography. It is also known wedding photojournalism, reportage, candid, informal – whatever you want to call it. Essentially it’s me getting on with shooting the wedding as I see it happening on the day. It’s my job to supply you with a fantastic set of images that really tell the story of the day and hopefully bring back lots of happy memories. Does that mean there are no formal pictures then?
Traditional wedding pictures have always included group shots and I am happy to do some. I like to keep this to a minimum though and advise the couple to choose carefully exactly who they would like to feature in a group shot. Time spent waiting around for uncle Fred to come back from the bar so that he can be in the extended family group shot can be a little tiresome. I will spend about ten to fifteen minutes with the couple (ideally away from the main wedding party) photographing them on their own. Apart from this, everything else is shot as it happens.

When do you start and finish?
Coverage tends to start with the brides preparations for about an hour. Then it’s just following the order of your day typically finishing at either the start of the meal or the first dance.

Do you have insurance?
Yes, I have both public liability and professional indemnity insurance.

Do you cover civil partnerships?
Yes, no problem.

What happens if you are ill?
I haven’t missed a wedding yet, but this is no guarantee that it won’t happen. I work by himself on each wedding but liaise with other photographers shooting in a similar style and would do my utmost to get the wedding covered by a colleague if time allowed.

What equipment do you use?
I use professional Canon digital SLRs and lenses and work with two cameras on the day.

Can our friends see our pictures online?
As wedding guests come from all over the country and often from overseas, online viewing of images is ideal. A web gallery with all the photos is uploaded to my website and prints can be ordered through the secure server with a credit or debit card.

Do you cover weddings nationwide?
Yes. The majority of my weddings take place in the South East but I’m happy to travel anywhere in the UK and overseas. Depending on where your wedding is taking place, accommodation and extra travel costs before may be necessary.

Do we need to meet you before booking?
That’s up to you. Most couples book me without meeting. However, if you would like to meet me for an informal chat at my home office, I’d be delighted to see you. Please note that I am usually unavailable to see people at the weekend, but weekday appointments are always possible.

Do we need to provide you with a meal?
Yes, a hot meal must be provided if I’m there until the first dance. The caterers should know about it to save confusion on the day. This will be taken at the same time as your wedding breakfast.

How do we make a booking?
Either fill out the contact form with as much detail as possible or give me a call on 07813 194638 to discuss your plans further. Don’t forget to let me know your intended wedding date, so I can let you know if I’m free for that date.

A completed booking form and initial payment of £400 is needed to secure the date. The balance is due two weeks before the wedding date.

“The photos are absolutely amazing, I can’t stop looking at them.  You really captured the whole day – they’re brilliant!!!”
